MOVIMENTO ANTIMANICOMIAL NO BRASIL: CONQUISTAS, AVANÇOS E
DESAFIOS.

RESUMO: O presente artigo tem como propósito, fazer uma abordagem sobre as atuais conquistas, avanços e desafios do Movimento Antimanicomial no Brasil, enquanto um movimento social, que visa à garantia dos direitos á cidadania dos usuários da saúde mental, opondo-se a cultura hospitalocêntrica e debatendo o redirecionamento do modelo assistencial da Saúde Mental brasileira, pautando-se nas iniciativas de enfrentamento da sociedade civil organizada, gerando grandes conquistas, dentre elas a desinstitucionalização da loucura. O espaço para este debate se deu após a lei de Reforma Psiquiátrica, considerada como a mais antiga em tempo de tramitação no Congresso
Nacional, com a realização de Conferências Nacionais em Saúde Mental, oferecendo grandes possibilidades à sociedade civil de participar, discutir e construir a atual politica de Saúde Mental e
Atenção Psicossocial do nosso país.
