Passado Contínuo
O past continuous é utilizado para descrever ações que ocoreram por determinado tempo no passado.
It was raining last night.
My father was walking at the park. Geralmente essas ações são interrompidas por ações também no passado (usamos o past continuous juntamente ao simple past)
When we arrived the teacher was writing on the board
The dog was sleeping when the cat jumped.
