Abstract
In the last decades, it has been verified that Project Management is a powerful instrument that allows companies to face new challenges. The increase in complexity and number of projects made planning and controlling activities critical to a success of a project. This development led managers to deal with the uncertainty and the need of creating a plan resistant to changes of scope, with the intent of achieving the proposed goals.
In the case study, it is shown the Project Management involved in an information technology project. In this context we analyzed some of the processes involved in the management of a project, like for example, risk management, time management and communication management. We verify that the Project Manager is faced with innumerous problems, from scope changes, to external pressures that do not contribute to the project’s success.
The analysis executed in the case has as its main objective the creation of a case study to be used for consolidation of the learning in a Project Management’s course.
After the case presentation a the appropriate theoretical framing and the detailed teaching note are included.
