Business Cards

‘I´m surprised how few companies think carefully about the design of their business cards,’ says James Beveridge, a creative designer at The Partners, an award-winning design company. ‘They think the card is only a piece of card with a telephone number and address on it, and not as an image of their company. But in my opinion, the layout of a business card tells you a lot about how a company operates´. ´When you give someone your card, you are in fact saying: “I’m available to talk to you on the phone, but if you prefer you can also contact me in other ways”. ´ He also points out that today a postal address is often less important than an electronic address. ‘ In my experience ,most people use business cards to phone or send an e-mail, not to send a letter. ‘Sometimes,’ he says, ‘people try too hard. It’s incredible how little you need to do to make your card special. People immediately notice a card if you use unusual dimensions, or if you have more white space than usual.’ His own card is very simple, but it is narrower than usual. It looks modern, efficient, and elegant. This is also the image the card gives of his company.
