RESUMO

Essa monografia é um estudo sobre a Articulação Temporomandibular
(ATM) e suas disfunções.
A ATM é uma articulação bilateral, complexa e com movimentos peculiares.
Este tema está sendo pauta de estudo por vários profissionais da área de saúde, inclusive pelos fonoaudiólogos.
Neste trabalho descreveremos a ATM, sua anatomia, seus movimentos normais e suas disfunções. Relatamos, ainda, a anamnese, avaliação, diagnóstico, tratamento e encaminhamento a outros profissionais.
Procuramos discorrer sobre como cada profissional envolvido atua com pacientes com Disfunções Temporomandibulares. Enfocamos, principalmente, de que forma o trabalho fonoaudiológico pode ser realizado de modo benéfico e positivo para com esses pacientes.
Pretendemos, com este estudo, mostrar aos fonoaudiólogos a importância da saúde das ATMs para o bom funcionamento do Sistema Estomatognático.

SUMMARY

This monography is a study about Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) and its disfunctions. The temporomandibular Joint is a bilateral articulation, complex and with pealiar movements.
This theme has been studied for many professionals of health area including speech pathologiests.
In this work (study) we describe Temporomandibular Joint is, and its anatomy, simple movements and its disfunctions. We also relate, anamnesis, evaluation, treatment and the guide to other professionals.
We try to consider about how each professional envolved works with their patients with Temporomandibular Joint Disfunctions. We enfocate, mainly how the threatment can be done in a beneficial and positive way.
We intend with this study to show how the health of the Temporomandibular
Joint is important for the good function of the Sthomatognathic System.
