First Chapter

3 The conversation starts when Professor Christopher says hello to his mom, Bernice. Bernice says the timing was perfect because she was just about to go out. Bernice’s friend, Irene, had just called, and Bernice said she was the first one to say “Happy birthday!” Prof. Christopher said it wasn’t true. He called her at midnight (Portugal hour). Irene told Bernice that Prof. Christopher is a very good son and says beautiful words. He said , “I’m just a good person because Bernice raised me‟. Prof. Christopher asked his mom how she because of her back problem, sciatic and also her leg’s muscle. Bernice said she could only walk with a cane, and that was when the painkillers were being effective. She also said her painkiller was Vicodin, like Dr. House. Prof. Christopher changes subject asking asking his mom what she was going to at luch. Bernice said that cousin Gail was going to take her out. Prof. Christopher (joking about his mom being 8 hours away by plane) said, ‟do you want to come here and have lunch with me?” Prof. Christopher said he was in a lesson with 500 students and they wanted to sing for her. (Everybody sang happy birthday) Bernice said we sing beautifully and she also said “thank you very, very much”. Prof. Christopher told her he would call her later and said good bye.
