RESUMO
Este estudo é o resultado de uma preocupação surgida no decorrer de estudos de pós-graduação e, até mesmo, anteriormente a estes. Já que, hora ou outra se questiona a qualidade do ensino oferecido nas escolas brasileiras é questionada e, assunto este que se torna corriqueiro em rodas de educadores, sobre os motivos, as origens de tantos discursos e poucas práticas realmente competentes e que alcancem o objetivo de formação do ser humano em forma mais ampla possível. Buscando encontrar motivos que tenham levado a educação à realidade de hoje, parece importante explanar sobre a história da educação no Brasil, para que se possa alcançar uma melhor compreensão da evolução e conquistas ocorridas quanto ao ato formal de educar. Para tanto, é abordada a educação brasileira desde a chegada dos portugueses em terras tupiniquins até a contemporaneidade.

ASTRACT
This study is the result of a concern that arose in the course of graduate studies and even above these.
Because, sooner or later one questions the quality of education offered in Brazilian schools is questioned, and this subject that becomes commonplace on wheels educators, the grounds, the origins of many speeches and few really competent and practices that achieve the goal training of human beings in the broadest possible way. Seeking to find reasons that have led to the reality of education today, it seems important to explain about the history of education in Brazil, so that we can achieve a better understanding of the progress and achievements that occurred as the formal act of educating.
Therefore, it is addressed to Brazilian education since the arrival of the Portuguese in brazilian lands until nowadays.
