Objectivo do trabalho
O objectivo desta actividade experimental é separar dicromato de potássio de permanganato de potássio, utilizando a técnica decromatografia de adsorção com eluição por etapas.
Abstract
This week's report is gonna be about the experimental activities that i've done this week so far. This week i've applied the chromatography method, or to be more specifically, the column chromatography, during my experimental activities. The main point or focus on this week's research is to seperate the potassium dichromate from the potassium permanganate.
To make this happen, me and my classmates first mounted the column, and after that, we selected the necessary material for the research, because it demanded the preparation of a fixed or stationary phase.
It's from this phase that this combination's gonna be inserted and then seperated and extracted.
Later on, we added to the column the eluent (HNO3) and a little bit of sand. Also, we added our solution mixture really carefully to avoid damaging the top surface. We also waited untill the whole solution would penetrate the adsorbent with constant addition of the eluent (HNO3). When the first color of the very first solution was finished, we procceded to it's recovery to add sometime later another color for the solution. The first sample recovered corresponded to a specific color and the other sample to a whole completely different color.(1)
