IN/ON/AT

Muitas pessoas acabam confundindo o in/on/at, achando que eles são usados de forma aleatória, mas estes têm determinadas ocasiões para serem usados:

IN
Usado para determinar um objeto que está DENTRO de algo.
Ex: the money is in my pocket, can you take it for me?
Ex2: the machine is not working, because there is something in (inside) it

IN também é usado para território, quando alguém ou algo está locado em uma cidade, estado ou país.

Ex: Josh: Peter, how are you man? I try to call you all day.
Peter: Hey dude, I’m in New York now, I had to travel because my wife is sick, I need to help her.
Ex2: John: Where are you gonna work next year?
Sarah: I’m gonna work in Dallas, they called me to a better job there.

Algo que não devemos esquecer, é que quando falamos de meses do ano, usamos IN.

My birthday is in January.
My mom is coming to visit me in December.

Isso também serve para anos.
I was born in 1990
The last time that Pope João Paulo II was in Brazil was in 1997.

Assim como as estações do ano: in the summer, in the winter, in the fall, in the spring

E também nas expressões in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening

ON
Usado para determinar que um objeto está EM CIMA de algo.

Ex: Dulce: did you see my book?
Cindy: Te book is on the table

Ex2: Carmen: I can’t find my wallet.
Ronn: I saw it on the desk, in your bedroom.

On também é usado para falarmos dos dias da semana.
Ex: On Tuesday, I have to do a test to take my certificate.
Ex2: I can rest just on Sundays, because this is my day-off.

Diferente do IN, usado apenas para se referir aos meses e aos anos em si, ON é usado nas datas completas: dia e mês; mês e ano, ou dia mês e ano.

I was born on January 6th of 1990.
Chrtistmas is celebrate on 25th December.

Usado como REFERÊNCIA de lugares.
