The Mosteiro de São Bento is a great simble of matter for São Paulo. It has more than 400 years of history since it was donated by São Paulo govern to 1600 monks that still making use of it until today. It was destructed and reconstructed 4 times. In 1908 it was constructed Philosophy College that now is part of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
It is a train station that it still working nowadays. It was built in 1867 to have the São Paulo Railway. It has a lot of English influences and it use to have a lot of matter for the Brazilian economy because it use to transport the coffee for the port of Santos. Between 1900 and 2010 it was rebuilt for better attending the train users.
It is one of the last examples of the architecture that was in use in XVII century. There are not proves of when it was constructed, but in 1739 and 1754 there were constructed 4 houses more and the junction of 2 of these houses made the Solar da Marquesa de Santos. But we know that in 1802 it was given by debt payment for Brigadeiro José Joaquim Pinto, who gave the house to Domitila de Castro when he died.
