RESUMO
Este breve ensaio teórico tem como objetivo percorrer o caminho trilhado por Foucault, ao estudar a loucura ao longo da história da modernidade. Ao trilhar este caminho, ele pretende evidenciar os sentidos atribuídos à loucura até que esta fosse aprisionada pelo saber médico e transformada em doença mental. Mas, sobretudo, este ensaio pretende demonstrar como os sentidos atribuídos à loucura não desapareceram quando o louco foi “promovido” à categoria de doente mental.

ENTERING IN THE “NAU DOS LOUCOS”: A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE
HISTORY OF MADNESS AND IT CONSEQUENCES
ABSTRACT
This brief theoretical essay aims to follow the path trodden by Foucault to study madness throughout the history of modernity. By walking the path mentioned, this article intends to address the meanings attributed to the madness. It also intends to reflect on the process by which madness was transformed into mental illness. But the main aim of this paper is to demonstrate that no significant changes happened in the way of treating the mentally ill, when the madness has been kidnapped by psychiatry.
