Angola’s engagement with the world is mainly defined by this ability to supply the world with oil. In 2010, 60% of Angola's production was energy (Fig. 1), which equals about 85% of the country's GDP.

Angola is one of the top leaders in oil production in Africa, with around 2000 million barrels being produced daily (Fig, 2). The country’s single oil refinery is running a maximum capacity.

Angola, with all the natural resources it possesses, making oil a real income to the country became, so to speak, the energy supplier that fuels the manufacturing and the Chinese industries.

In fact, since 2002, Angola has been a major supplier of oil to China in Africa occupying, in 2011, the second position as the world largest supplier to China.
On the other hand, since 2007, China surpassed the United States as the biggest importer of Angolan oil (Fig. 3).

With the commercial affairs being driven by oil, China became one of the biggest trading partners of Angola (Fig. 4).
