Dear Internship Coordinator:
It was with great interest that I read your opening for internship positions in China. Having carefully considered your advertisement, I am convinced I can make a significant contribution to a company or university in China within the context of a Master’s Thesis for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), where I am currently studying.
My interests have led me to delve into various areas of Computer Science such as operating systems, network architectures, bio-informatics, and robotics; however my main focus lies in distributed systems, web computing, and knowledge management. The publication of my semester project, in which I designed and implemented a novel architecture for web service directories to allow for highly scalable access, may convince you of my capacity to apply the knowledge I have gained and deliver high-quality results. Throughout my studies I have been employed with various companies in the field of system administration and web design. This has allowed me to become accustomed to a working environment, and it is my desire to be truly productive that has led me to seek a Master’s Project in a challenging and new environment.
I communicate easily in English, having spent most of my childhood in an English-speaking country. It is also from this childhood that I draw my fascination with different cultures and mentalities, and the unique opportunity of getting to know one of the greatest cultures humankind has produced places this candidature far beyond any other internships I may be considering.
