Abstract
A method for the implementation of a management program for human and material resource in industries is presented. The objective of the program is to improve the quality of products and services and the produvtivity of the company. The method is based on the five Senses (5S) japanese technique, that aims at the change of material and behavional work enviroment. The five Senses can be translated as: Utilization (Seiri),
Ordering (Seiton), Neatness (Seiso), Well-Being (Seiketsu) and Selfdiscipline (Shitsuke).
Very few references were found in the specialized literature concerning management tools for waste preventive administration, that may be used to implement strategic plans for human resources. In order to fill this gap it is proposed to extend the five Senses technique to increase the top management awardness and motivation regarding waste prevention controls in the company. A program is then developed, based on the concepts of motivation, leadership, communication and quality of life in the workplace, using training programs as a tool to change work habits and behaviour. The three additional Senses result from three more japanese words which start with the S letter and which mean respectively: “Shikari Yaro” or Determination and Union, “shido” or Training and
“Sestuyaku” or Economy and waste prevention. As a result appears “The eight Senses program” or 8S program.
