O SETOR CERVEJEIRO NO BRASIL: GÊNESE E EVOLUÇÃO

RESUMO
O presente trabalho busca demonstrar a gênese e desenvolvimento da indústria de cerveja no
Brasil até os anos 30. Buscou-se destacar a importância do imigrante europeu, que trouxe de seu país de origem a prática de produção e o hábito de consumir da bebida. Tais imigrantes foram responsáveis pela transformação de uma produção artesanal em uma pequena produção mercantil que se tornou altamente capitalizada. Enfatizou-se o processo de substituição de importações que ocorreu anteriormente à política de substituição do Governo Vargas em 1930, pois essa primeira estratégia de substituição foi responsáveis por viabilizar a expansão da produção cervejeira nacional, que já apresentava alto grau tecnológico no início do século XX, e, era capaz de sustentar o mercado interno crescente. Nesse contexto as empresas Antarctica e
Brahma demonstraram-se superiores as demais empresas em suas estratégias produtivas, e tornaram-se responsáveis pela concentração de capital no setor.

ABSTRACT
This paper seeks to demonstrate the genesis and development of the brewing industry in Brazil until the 30s. It intends to highlight the importance of European immigrants, who brought the consuming practice and way of producing the drink from their countries of origin. These immigrants were responsible for the transformation of a manufactured production into a small mercantile production which became highly capitalized. The process of import substitution that occurred prior to the replacement policy of the Government Vargas in 1930 is emphasized in the paper, since that first substitution strategy was responsible for enabling the expansion of the output of domestic breweries, which already had a high technological level in the early twentieth century, and was able to
