SEXUALIDADE, GÊNERO E SUAS RELAÇÕES DE PODER

Resumo: O presente artigo de revisão de literatura aborda a questão de gênero como um conceito cuja utilização é relativamente nova, inclusive na psicologia. A partir da explicitação do conceito de gênero, faz a distinção entre as categorias gênero e sexo. Apresenta um breve histórico da origem e da construção desse conceito nas relações sociais. Ressalta a importância do discurso na construção do preconceito e da discriminação relacionados à mulher na sociedade, na família e no trabalho. O reconhecimento da diferença entre sexo e gênero é importante porque representa uma ruptura com os modelos utilizados anteriormente nos estudos científicos, nos quais os estereótipos de masculinidade e feminilidade ressaltavam sempre a primazia do homem sobre a mulher. A introdução da categoria gênero nos discursos é fundamental para que se aceite a igualdade entre homens e mulheres no que diz respeito a direitos políticos, econômicos, sociais, familiares e trabalhistas.

Abstract: This paper of literature review addresses the subject of gender as a fairly new concept, even in the
Psychology field. By exposing the concept of “gender”, a distinction of it and the concept of “sex” is made. A brief historical view of the origin and construction of this concept will be showed within social relations, as well the importance of the speech in the construction of prejudice towards women in society, family and labor. The acknowledgement of the difference between “sex” and “gender” is important because it represents a disruption with the early models used in scientific studies, in which stereotypes of manhood would always prevail over stereotypes of womanhood. The inclusion of the “gender” category in discourses is fundamental in order to achieve the equality between men and women regarding political, economical, social, family and labor rights.
